Impact Analysis and Calibration Methods of Excitation Errors for Phased Array Antennas

نویسندگان

چکیده

Phased array antennas have played a very important role in many different areas and applications. It requires precise excitation of each antenna element by various synthesis techniques to obtain desired pattern features. However, due reasons such as manufacturing imperfections, component aging, temperature variation, the realistic inevitably differs from their expected values practice. This paper presents tutorial-like review deal with errors for phased antennas. Two kinds analysis methods, probabilistic methods interval arithmetic (IA) based are presented evaluate effects State-of-the-art calibration along signal processing reviewed, advantages challenges discussed comparative manner. Some other common open research directions also presented.

calibration of phased array of reflector antennas using leo satellites

detection of stealth targets calls for employment of high-power radars which itself relies on usage of high-gain antennas like large parabolic reflectors. in the past few years, using of an array with many small reflectors instead of a large reflector antenna has been considered. this method provides enhanced eirp by a factor of n2 where n is the number of array antennas. regarding improvement ...

Phased array antennas for mobile communications

Mobile communications demands present new challenges for transmission. Traditionally, antennas used at base stations to communicate with mobile units within an area are omni-directional. In order to allow a higher density of participants within the area, a “pencil” beam is used. The beam tracks and follows the movement of the mobile unit. This results in an additional advantage: the fading effe...

Efficient Calibration of Active-Phased-Array SARs

Calibration of the first space-borne SAR instruments, with only one swath and based on passive antenna technologies, (e.g. ERS-1) required the in-flight characterisation of that single-swath instrument over well-known scatterers (reflectors, transponders and rainforest sensing data). Modern systems evolved to more access flexibility -therefore, multiple beams-, and multi-polarisation that led t...
